Aston Martin lost a world champion when Sebastian Vettel decided to retire and won another by signing Fernando Alonso. In Bahrain, team technical director Dan Fallows spoke about the implications of these changes…
Dan Fallows: “Sebastian and Fernando are very different people. Fernando has a lot of energy, he still really wants to race and tells us he will keep going for as long as he can. This gives strength to the team. It was great when he joined the team and talked to everyone. We have several employees from Spain, they were very happy with his arrival.
Fernando impressed me. He is incredibly motivated, very competitive and brings a lot of energy to the team. This impression was already created when he first sat behind the wheel of our car during testing last year. His feedback matches the expectations of a rider with more experience. He diagnoses problems with the machine so accurately and in a way that we, the technical team, are very happy with it.”
