Formula 1 has left a clear mark on the history of Sochi Autodrom, but Russia’s most famous race track lives not only on the Royal Races. What happens at a sports facility in the south of the country without the departed Formula 1, we will now tell.
It is quite logical that Formula 1, which attracts tens of millions of fans around the world, overshadows all racing events – it is almost impossible to compete in popularity with the World Circuit Racing Championship. However, let’s put aside the grandeur and charm of the Circus Maximus.
The fall of 2022 offered the public two exciting competitions: the final four-hour endurance race – REC SOCHI AUTODROM 4h as part of the fourth stage of the Russian Endurance Challenge-2022, and the final stage of the Krasnodar Territory Rally-Sprint Championship Time Attack KKFA-2022. Thousands of motorsport fans witnessed the furious battle for the championship.
And in December, the next season of Sochi Drift Challenge started. The first three stages ended with an uncompromising and fierce battle and the final will take place on March 25 and 26. Millions of views on VK speak for themselves, but how can a photo convey the smell of burnt rubber and the effect of being immersed in one of the most dynamic and exciting racing disciplines? Of course not!
At the end of the first month of spring, when the air temperature on the Black Sea coast warms up to double digits, it will be hot – in the last race of the 2022/23 season, the leaders of the Russian drift will compete for the title of tournament champion. Seeing this grandiose event with your own eyes from the stage of Sochi Autodrom is a must. Now tickets cost 1,500 and 2,000 rubles depending on the category, but prices will increase on March 24. The demand for tickets is high, so don’t be late with your purchase. Come to Sochi Autodrom with the whole family, especially since children under six years old can enter for free.
Fans of high speeds and adrenaline should pay attention to the opportunity to independently drive around the legendary Sochi Autodrom circuit. It is unlikely that it will be possible to set a track speed record in Formula 1 (Kimi Raikkonen accelerated to 343.1 km / h in 2015), but you can certainly tickle your nerves and your instructor while driving a 490 hp strong Ferrari F430 or a Lamborghini Huracan STO with 640 hp.
Have you imagined what it was like, and goosebumps ran down your spine? It’s okay – there is a “Racing Taxi” service, where you are driven around the track. Emotions will certainly not be less! As well as from a go-kart ride – pure driving on the track with a length of 880 meters.
Fans of a more relaxed pastime will definitely enjoy an active walk around Sochi Autodrom. A unique opportunity to go to the circuit where the world’s motorsport stars race and explore it independently is offered completely free of charge. It takes more than an hour to overcome 5,848 meters, but you can speed up by riding a bicycle or standing on roller skates or a skateboard. The choice is yours!
And since you are on Sochi Autodrom, the Nick Panuli Auto Museum is at your service. In the main grandstand building you will find incredible racing collections that will be the envy of many museums around the world, as well as dozens of cars – rare sports cars and civilian cars that have gained cult status.
