Aston Martin has unveiled a new FIA medical car: the DBX707 crossover, which is considered the most powerful and fastest in its class.
The car got its index thanks to the improved 4-liter V8 engine from Mercedes, the power of which, after a series of improvements, was increased to 707 hp. The transmission has also been improved, so that the car takes just over 3 seconds to accelerate to 100 km/h and the maximum speed is around 310 km/h.
In addition, the suspension and brakes of the DBX707 are more efficient and the interior more luxurious. However, that last circumstance is not the most important for a medical car, in contrast to the improved dynamics, which allow the FIA medical team to be on site quickly when their assistance is needed.
Of course, the special version of the DBX707, designed for Formula 1, is equipped with all the necessary additional equipment, including a defibrillator, fire extinguishers, telecommunication and radio communication systems, etc. The seats are also special – racing, FIA certified, with six-point belts.
Roberto Fedeli, Head of Technology at Aston Martin: “The DBX707 is the ideal FIA Medical Car for Formula 1 because it is such an extremely important feature. It delivers the performance you need to take on the best racetracks in the world, plus it’s comfortable and roomy.
We are delighted to continue our partnership with Formula 1 and the FIA this season as the top category of motorsport provides the perfect environment to showcase the performance of premium fast cars.”
Alan vad der Merwe, FIA Medical Car driver: “The upgraded Medical Car is an impressive step forward and allows us to keep pace with the pace at which the world of Formula 1 is evolving.
Thanks to the new machine, the medical team can fully concentrate on their tasks and react quickly and safely to any situation where our intervention is required. It’s great to start the new season with not only good preparation, but also excellent equipment.”
