Qualification

Max Verstappen’s pole position in Bahrain was his 21st in his career – he ranks 14th on this indicator, ahead of Damon Hill (20 poles) and one pole behind Fernando Alonso.
Sergio Perez showed the second fastest time and started in the top three for the first time in his career in Bahrain.

Never before have Red Bull Racing drivers occupied the entire front row on the grid in Bahrain.

Race

Max Verstappen won the Bahrain Grand Prix – his 36th career victory, his first in Bahrain – and first in the first race of the season. This is the first victory for Red Bull in Bahrain in the last ten years.

Fernando Alonso finished third to claim the 99th podium of his career and the second in Aston Martin’s history on the marque’s 50th Grand Prix start. This is Alonso’s first podium since the 2021 Qatar Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton’s fifth place is his worst result in Bahrain since 2013, when he also finished fifth.

Lance Stroll’s sixth-place finish matched his best result from last year when he finished sixth in Singapore.

Valtteri Bottas finished eighth and earned points in Bahrain for the tenth time in a row.

Pierre Gasly finished ninth, earning points for the second time in his career after starting from last place – the first time to do so in Mexico City’18.

For the second time in his career, Guanyu Zhou set the best lap of the race, the last time he set the fastest time in Japan’22.
