Hamilton: I talked about problems, but they didn’t listen to me

After finishing the Bahrain Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton was a bit critical of Mercedes. On the BBC’s Checkered Flag podcast, the seven-time world champion complained that the engineers didn’t listen to his advice when making the W14 car, so now the team must solve the lack of speed problem.

Lewis Hamilton “Last year I spoke to the team about the problems our car has. During my career I have driven many different vehicles, so I know what the car needs and what it doesn’t.

I believe we are talking about accountability so that the team recognizes this and says, “Yeah, we didn’t listen to you, we did something wrong and we have to keep working.” It is necessary to improve the balance of the car in the corners, assess all weaknesses and work together to eliminate them as a team. That’s exactly what we do.

Together we have won a lot of titles, but the team failed to build a car last year and neither this year. However, this does not mean that we cannot move forward.

I liked that I had a few fights on the track in Bahrain. We were close to the leaders, but still not enough. I’ve often driven similar cars, especially during my McLaren years. I don’t know how or when we’ll bounce back, but we certainly will.”
