Technical problems hampered McLaren in Bahrain – Oscar Piastri retired and Lando Norris finished last, two laps back. But even after such a race, team leader Andrea Stella finds positive aspects – he does not deny any technical problems, but assures that the speed in the race was higher than expected.
Andrea Stella: “The positive result of the race is the fact that Lando would have taken points without any technical problems. The speed of the car in the race exceeded our expectations. On Sunday we saw that our hard work over the winter to improve the interaction between car and tires had paid off.
Not only Lando claimed a high position. Oscar had low tire degradation in the first stint of the race. He overtook rivals in a tight fight – we were able to earn points with two cars – these are positive results from the weekend.
Before the start of the stage I thought it would be difficult for us to reach the final of qualifying and we wouldn’t be able to earn any points, but in reality we had such opportunities.
