After Red Bull Racing’s double victory in Bahrain, many rushed to award the victory to Max Verstappen in advance, but team advisor Helmut Marko insists that Sergio Perez should not be written off.
Helmut Marko: “Sergio has lasted two full seasons as Verstappen’s partner. It didn’t break like most other drivers would. This is a great achievement in itself. Max has no weaknesses, but Perez’s strength is that he doesn’t give up.
The team’s goal is first and second place in the individual ranking at the end of the season. There is no need for Verstappen to take first place.”
Sergio Perez’s contract with Red Bull Racing runs until the end of 2024 and now Marco is ready to discuss the prospects for the extension: “Let’s see how things develop. In any case, these kinds of conversations usually start shortly before or just after the summer holidays.”
