Max Verstappen started the 2023 season strongly with a victory in Bahrain, but 2009 world champion Jenson Button thinks it is still too early to say that the Red Bull Racing driver will take a third title without a fight.
“Many people say that Red Bull and Max are waiting for an easy season, but how can you be sure? – shared his opinion Jenson Button. – The tests and the race took place on one circuit only. Everyone knows that Bahrain has unique characteristics – braking is serious on this track and the cars have to be efficient when accelerating, and the maximum speed is not so important.
Based on the results of one race, we cannot draw any conclusions about the alignment of forces. I think we will understand the picture a bit better after Saudi Arabia, where the high-speed track is, and eventually the picture will become clearer on the European podiums.
I don’t think Red Bull and Max will have it easy. They started the season well, not like last year, but I still think the battle will be very, very close. I don’t think Red Bull and Max will win the title easily.”
