Alex Albon and Nicholas Latifi set a seventeenth and nineteenth time respectively in the second practice session of the Australian Grand Prix. Both Williams drivers noted that the optimal settings have yet to be found to qualify for higher results in qualifying.
Alex Albon (17th): “Melbourne has a great track – it’s interesting to ride here, and the fans in the stands are incredible. Today the result could have been a little better, but we made good progress in the second practice. The team is moving in the right direction and we need to focus on that.
We will continue to work tonight and hopefully we will have a strong performance in tomorrow’s qualifying.”
Nicholas Latific (19th): “Introducing a new circuit in Albert Park turned out to be interesting for me. The racing is very fast, also thanks to configuration changes. In some corners the track reminded me of the city and turned out to be more technical than I expected. However, with each lap I felt more confident behind the wheel.
However, I still need to work on pilots and settings. Hopefully we will make the right adjustments and be higher.”
