There has been regular talk for years about holding a Formula 1 podium in London, but all projects remain on paper. The idea of a race in the center of the British capital was abandoned, but now new plans have been announced in London – to build a stationary circuit in the east of the city in the Docklands area.
There are currently plans to renovate the area with private investors – the project is valued at £250 million and includes the construction of a race track. According to The Times, the project has been backed by London Mayor Sadiq Khan and preliminary negotiations are already underway with Formula 1 owners Liberty Media.
Despite previous talks, the plans are at an early stage. The authors of the project from the companies DAR and LDN Collective expect to finalize the project in the next 12 months.
“Once we have all the approvals, under favorable conditions we can build anything in 24 months,” said Max Farrell, head of LDN Collective. – With an ideal development of events, it is possible to hold the London Grand Prix in August 2026. If everyone is behind the project, we can carry it out.”
