Red Bull Racing drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez set second and fifth fastest times in the second practice session of the Australian Grand Prix. If Max is quite happy with the speed, then his partner is not happy with the car’s settings.
Max Verstappen (2nd): “In the first and at the start of the second practice the balance of the car was far from ideal, but after that we adjusted the settings and I was more satisfied with the car. We are still behind Ferrari, but the results could be even more compact.
On a long series of laps we show stable times, the car drives well with a full tank. We can certainly say that progress has been made today. We are on the right track, so we must continue to work based on the information gathered today.
Apparently there is another fierce battle between us and Ferrari this weekend. Let’s see what happens tomorrow, but right now they look very fast. There is still work to be done, but we are in good shape.”
Sergio Perez (5th): “The day turned out to be very difficult. During the day we adjusted the settings and now we have to analyze how they affected the behavior of the car. Some things didn’t work as expected.
I didn’t do as many laps as I wanted, we lost time in the second practice, but the team still managed to collect enough information for analysis. There is still work to be done to understand in which direction we need to proceed, because at the moment we do not fully understand what is happening with the car.
