Norris: You can count on points because of the speed of the car

In the first leg of the season in Bahrain, the McLaren drivers did not score any points. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are confident the car’s speed will allow them to challenge for a top ten finish in Saudi Arabia.

Lando Norris: “It is great to be back on the track in Jeddah. The speeds are high here, I like the city tracks and I’m looking forward to the ride. Last year I got a good result and the race in Bahrain showed that the pace of the machine can be counted on points. Now all you have to do is get the most out of the MCL60.

The team works tirelessly to apply all the information learned in Bahrain and make adjustments to perform better in Saudi Arabia. We know there is still a lot of work to be done to get to the positions we want to be. I have faith in the team and I know the guys will do their best to get better. We will go out on track and do our best.”

Oscar Pistri: “I’m looking forward to the race at the circuit in Jeddah. The last time I drove here in Formula 2, I know the fast circuit. Now I want to evaluate it in Formula 1. Jeddah has interesting fast corners and I have my first Formula 1 city race.

The result of my first race in Formula 1 is disappointing, but I have learned a lot and above all, we will not give up. I know that after Bahrain the team worked hard to turn things around and give Lando and me the best car possible.

The team will continue to attack – I have no doubt that we will get to the positions we want to be.”

Andrew Stella, team boss: “The track in Jeddah is fast and wide, with riders facing an interesting challenge. Compared to last year there are minor changes on the track. We welcome the changes designed to improve safety – better visibility for riders and reduced curb heights.

The team travels to Saudi Arabia, determined to score points that would have been possible in Bahrain had it not been for reliability issues. Over the past week, McLaren and HPP have done a lot of analysis to make sure the issues have been resolved.

We know there is still a lot of work to be done, but the team in Woking and on track is fully focused on improving and ready to fight in Saudi Arabia.”
