Asked by Racingnews365 what is holding back the team’s progress, Franz Tost said: “Infrastructure in every way. If you look at the leaders, over the years they’ve created a fantastic infrastructure with different modeling tools. They’ve hired the best people and it’s up to the mid-tier teams, not just us, to come up with the best modeling tools.
All teams compete for the best specialists. I think AlphaTauri has a good foundation right now, so I’m pretty positive about our chances this year.
In Formula 1, the best teams, like the best drivers, strive for the best specialists. The team must become an attractive place to work, so that good and experienced people want to work for us – I want AlphaTauri to be such a team.
We have a major base in the UK where we have our aerodynamics and concept departments. The racing team, production, development and marketing are based in Italy. It all depends on the goals, but the base in England gives more chances, as almost all the specialists are in this country. As a result, the market for experienced professionals from the world of Formula 1 is much larger than in Italy.”
