Track changes and DRS zones in Jeddah

On the eve of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, the FIA spoke about the track changes and confirmed the location of three independent DRS zones on the Jeddah circuit.

Over the entire distance of the circle, metal curbs are replaced by beveled concrete curbs. In the eleventh corner, Tecpro barriers will be placed on the left side in the direction of travel. In the eighth, fourteenth and twentieth turns the walls were rebuilt.

The twenty-second and twenty-third turns were rebuilt. The twenty-second turn starts 10 meters earlier, and the twenty-third is moved five meters.

Three independent DRS zones remain in Jeddah. The interval measuring point of the first DRS zone is at the exit of the 17th turn and the activation point is at the exit of the 19th. The measurement point for the interval of the second DRS zone is at the entrance of the 22nd turn, the activation point is at the entrance of the 25th.

Compared to last year, the location of the third DRS zone has changed. Previously, the interval measuring point was before the 27th turn and the activation point at the exit of the 27th. The riders took advantage of this and let the rivals pass in front of the measuring point, then activated DRS on the exit of the corner and regained the lost position. In 2023, such a maneuver will be impossible.

The interval measuring point has been moved to the exit of the 27th turn and the activation point is, as before, 170 meters after the 27th.
