Mercedes will bring new items to Jeddah

For the second leg of the season in Jeddah, Mercedes engineers have prepared updates for the W14 car. Sports director Toto Wolff hopes they are a step forward and can perform better than in Bahrain.

Toto Wolff: “The result of our performance in Bahrain was not what we wanted. The team was in a difficult situation, but we are already working with full dedication to understand and add to the reasons. This is an exciting challenge for all of us.

After Bahrain, we had an open and honest discussion where we started planning our return to wrestling. In the short term, we will leave no stone unturned to find a solution that will help increase speed. In the long term, we will focus on development to get back to the forefront. I can already feel the energy and determination of everyone at the grassroots, and I know we will continue to make progress.

Anything can happen in racing. In Jeddah we will continue to work to get the most out of every performance on court, we will fight for every point, every position and every thousandth of a second. With Lewis and George we have a strong driver line-up. We are racers and we give our best on every ride to the track.

This weekend in Saudi Arabia we will learn more about the W14, better understand its features and limitations. The track is different from the one in Bahrain, so it will be interesting to see how the car will perform.

The team will bring small updates – they will not radically change the situation, but will allow you to move in the right direction. We will do our best to create chances and hopefully perform better than in Bahrain.”
