During the race in Bahrain, Esteban Ocon was fined three times with time extension. First he was given five seconds for a foul on the grid, then another ten for not fully defending the first penalty, and then another five for speeding in the pit lane.
On Thursday in Jeddah, an Alpine F1 driver commented on this difficult situation…
Esteban Ocon: “We recognize all the mistakes made in Bahrain. They are clear. It is often said that when it rains, you can’t help but get wet. This happened to us in Bahrain.
Usually we handle such moments well, but that time it didn’t happen. I’ve met with the FIA stewards, we’ve clarified everything and moving on.
Unfortunately, you can hardly see the markings on the track behind the wheel of a modern Formula 1 car. There are only relative guidelines, which I have followed. And I understand that I need to solve this problem somehow.
Our goal this weekend is to score points. In Bahrain, where the track didn’t suit our car, we were able to achieve this, now we will try to get a better result in Jeddah. Last year I qualified fifth here, enjoyed the race I was competitive in. Hopefully it will be the same this weekend. Our goal is to get a good result, to successfully complete this stage.”
