Charles Leclerc: Let’s take a step forward this weekend

Charles Leclerc retired from the first race of the season in Bahrain and will lose ten places at the start in Jeddah for an ECU replacement. On Thursday, however, the Ferrari driver was optimistic – the Monegask believes his car will be more competitive in Saudi Arabia.

Charles Leclerc: “In Bahrain, my car had two problems with the control electronics, so I got a fine here, but we understand the reason.

I have not yet received confirmation whether the first two blocks can be recovered, but most likely not. I am not afraid the problem will repeat this weekend as the team said it had found the cause.

In theory, Jeddah is a better fit for our car, but we don’t know what it will actually look like. Red Bull has a very flexible car – after Bahrain they could change a lot to be competitive here.

In Bahrain, our obvious weakness was race pace and tire wear. The team has been working hard on this issue and I am sure we will take a step forward this weekend. In addition, the characteristic of the route is such that the degradation will not be as high as in Bahrain, which should also help us.

Of course the loss of ten places makes it more difficult for me, but I will try to start well and get back to the first positions as soon as possible.
