Ralf Schumacher defended his cousin

After Mick Schumacher’s serious accident in Monaco, which led to the write-off of another car, the Haas F1 racer was criticized by many for steering errors, even his own uncle Ralph.

Obviously Gunther Steiner, the head of the US team, has also expressed his opinion on what happened, but his words can be interpreted in different ways. In particular, he said at the time: “It is very unfortunate that Mick has had another serious accident. Now we have to figure out how to proceed.”

Does this mean that Steiner’s patience is running out, because the recovery of the technology again entails unplanned and high costs? It is not surprising that the rumors spread immediately, but will Haas part with the 23-year-old German at all?

But now Ralf Schumacher spoke out in defense of his nephew, drawing attention to the comment of the Haas team head: “Such statements are completely in the style of Gunther Steiner. They are superficial and allow too free an interpretation. This team makes a lot of mistakes themselves.

Everything has to be looked at in a complex: on the one hand, Mick has to be more careful and stop making more mistakes, but Haas also has to try to get ahead. We see that Kevin Magnussen is also starting to have a hard time.

Mick needs to train smoothly and without complications for at least one weekend so that he can spend the entire training in peace. Everything has to work out and if both parties do their job well, I don’t foresee any problems.”

Speaking of the team’s mistakes, Ralph means technical problems, because in Spain, for example, the rear brakes on Mick’s car catch fire. However, the former Formula 1 driver and now Sky Deutschland TV pundit is not worried about Mick’s prospects: “The team leaders see clearly that he has potential. There are options other than Haas.

There is a lot going on behind the scenes at the moment, the major German car manufacturers are about to enter Formula 1 (Audi and Porsche apparently) and they urgently need a German driver. In addition, Mick is still part of the Ferrari youth program.”
