As a result of the first practice, the Aston Martin drivers showed the third and fourth fastest times and Fernando Alonso was ahead of his partner. Sports director Mike Krak once again praised the work of the Spaniard, who infects everyone with his energy and determination.
“To be honest, it infects all of us,” he said. – We seem to have caught the right wave, and first of all Fernando. You heard during the race in Bahrain how he pushed himself and kept this fighting spirit.
This is all very cool because he inspires the team, helps it develop and now everyone works and gives the best of themselves to achieve the highest possible results.”
However, Krak chose not to predict the weekend in Jeddah, believing that after the first practice sessions it makes no sense to do so: “We did everything we were going to do in the first session, but did not pay attention to what what the rivals were working on. In addition, it is difficult to judge competitiveness from the first practice, because the tests are so limited that everyone tests certain solutions and components at the beginning of the weekend.
The circuit in Jeddah has very different characteristics than in Bahrain, so we try to be realistic. What positions we take in relation to rivals will only become clear after a few races, which will be held on different circuits. That is why we are still fully focused on our work, trying to make improvements and not overestimating our own performance.”
