During practice in Jeddah, Nico Hulkenberg was faster than his team-mate, but Kevin Magnussen is not entirely happy with the car’s settings and the team will try to improve the balance of his VF-23.
Kevin Magnussen (15th): “Everything is going well, Friday practice went well, but as always there is a lot of work to do in the evening.
The results are close, but it was the same in Bahrain, and a sharp battle will take place tomorrow. The track in Jeddah has completely different characteristics, different speeds and new challenges await us. Our aim is to qualify as best we can and get through to the final session, although we intend to focus on preparing for Sunday.”
Nico Hulkenberg (8th): “Friday went smoothly – there were no accidents, no special problems. As usual, during training we studied the behavior of the car, the tires and tried to understand what happened to the balance.
Absolutely, we are competitive in one fast lap, but in a long series of difficulties there can be more, and this is what we need to focus on. First of all, we need to achieve the desired pace and the low degradation of rubber, so we will analyze everything and develop the best tactics.”
Gunter Steiner, Team boss: “The team was confident in both practices, there were no problems, we completed 95 laps and completed the entire program. Now we need to add some more, but overall we are satisfied.
It is true that there is still some work to be done on Kevin’s car as he is not completely happy with the settings, but I think we know what it is all about.”
