At the end of Friday’s practice in Jeddah, McLaren racers were in the second ten and both recognize the need to look for improvement. But if Lando Norris is more inclined to talk about the car, then Oscar Piastri makes no secret of the fact that he needs to fly more consistently.
Lando Norris (12th): “Today everything worked out, as usual on Friday. We followed our program, did several tests and tried to improve the performance of the machine.
In the second session we managed to improve a bit, but the results in the middle group of teams are very tight, except that Alpine is way ahead. The difference between me and the rider in last place is only a few tenths.
Overall I’m not quite happy with the balance of the car yet, but I’m doing my best.”
Oscar Pistri (19th): “I’m glad we came back to Jeddah, I really like this track and I think we were able to make some improvements during practice. But the gaps in the midrange are minimal, so any increase in speed, even a small one, is important.
Together with the team we will try to take further steps tomorrow and then we will see what we can achieve. In general, I feel quite comfortable driving the MCL60, I already feel the pros and cons of the car, and now I have to analyze everything, draw conclusions and put everything together.
So far I lack stability, and this is what I need to work on first, prepare for tomorrow.”
