Top 3 Ferrari innovations on display in Jeddah

The Ferrari team has already prepared some technical updates for the second stage of the season, but team principal Frederic Vasser, speaking about this, chose not to go into details.

After Friday’s practice, Charles Leclerc stressed that they had tested the novelties on the fast track in Jeddah and that they met expectations. The Italian press gave some details about the Scuderia’s efforts to improve the efficiency of the SF-23 chassis.

First of all, a new rear wing with one central strut was noticed on both cars during the first practice session, and apparently this design can withstand the high loads on the Saudi track and successfully passed all tests.

According to experts, a wing of this configuration should help ensure that the center of gravity of the aerodynamic pressure shifts below the machine’s center of gravity, which is important to avoid longitudinal build-up at high speeds.

Ferrari also partially improved the front wing – the configuration of the upper surfaces became different, both in the area adjacent to the nose fairing and the end plates. This allows you to divert turbulent flows away from the front wheels more effectively.

It was also noticeable that the edges of the floor in the area in front of the rear wheels have been changed on the SF-23. Presumably this is not only due to the characteristics of a particular route, but can be seen as a sign of consistent planned work to improve the efficiency of the underbody, this key part of the aerodynamic body kit, on which the level of downdraught generated strength largely depends.
