Perez: I hope both Red Bull cars will be at the front of the race

Sergio Perez won qualifying in Jeddah – this is only the second pole of his career, but he was on the same track the first year ago.

Sergio Perez (1st): “Winning qualifying wasn’t easy because I didn’t have a second attempt. But from the first session everything went well and when you go to a fast lap you really feel how the car comes to life on this track.

In the final it was important to ride the first lap as best as possible as the track condition improved and on the second attempt we struggled.

It’s a pity Max’s car broke down because he showed great speed from the start of the weekend. But as you know the technology can fail at any time, but I hope tomorrow both our cars will be ahead.”

Max Verstappen (15th): “I can’t say exactly what happened to the car, but the problem started in turn 10. This is of course very annoying, because before that everything went very well, we were fast in every session. Every time we went out on the track the car worked perfectly.

Now it will be more difficult for me to break into the front rows, but the main thing is to earn points. Of course I would like to start from a higher position, but nothing can be changed about that now. However, the season is long, anything can happen on this track and we’ve seen a lot of great things here.

However, we have to be realistic: it won’t be easy to regain positions, but our car can have a good pace, so of course we will try to get ahead.
