Valtteri Bottas: We will be at our best in Melbourne

In Jeddah, the Alfa Romeo drivers did not score any points. Guanyu Zhou finished 13th and Valtteri Bottas was last, the only one to lose a lap to the leader…

Guanyu Zhou (13th): “In the first stint the car was fast, it looked like we could fight for points, but on street circuits a lot depends on position. After the safety car left I was stuck in a group of cars with DRS and couldn’t change anything.

It’s just not our day, I have no doubt that the team will be able to achieve more in the future. In two weeks in Melbourne we have another chance to prove it.”

Valttery Bottas (18th): “On Saturday the car performed well in qualifying, we hoped for a good Sunday, but the race turned out very differently. The car was not behaving optimally, there was not enough grip from the start and we have to find the reason.

On the first lap I came across a large piece of debris, maybe the bottom was damaged – we will inspect the car, analyze the telemetry and in Melbourne we will try to be in the best shape.

I believe our car is much faster than we showed in Jeddah. Zhou had a much better pace, so I don’t think this weekend can be considered important. I’m sure we can fight for points in Australia.”
