Lando Norris: Difficult race, we had a lot of bad luck

McLaren drivers unanimously say they were just unlucky in Saudi Arabia due to an incident that occurred at the start.

Oscar Pistri (15th): “Of course we expected the day to turn out differently, but at the very beginning of the race I lost part of the front wing due to contact with another car. I’m not sure if I could have acted differently on that episode, they just blocked me.

It’s nice that we fought well on track at the end of the race. I also drove a very long mile on one set of hard tyres, and it was a learning experience that helped me better understand how tires work. But overall, not everything went as we would like today.”

Lando Norris (17th): “Difficult race, today we had a lot of bad luck. I had a good start, but then my front wing got damaged by debris. This ruined my race. I had to go back to the pits almost immediately to replace the nose cone.

We tried to come up with something, adjusted the tactical scheme, but after the second pit stop I had to drive for a long time, until the end of the race, on a set of Medium tires – in general, there were enough difficulties.

We did everything in our power, the team acted harmoniously, but a better result was hardly possible. Now we have to fully concentrate on preparing for the Australian Grand Prix – we hope we can work better there.
