The second race of the season in Jeddah ended with a double victory for Red Bull Racing. Sergio Perez won the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and team boss Christian Horner praised the Mexican driver after the finish.
Christian Horner: “Thanks to the team for building an incredible car. Today we saw both riders push each other forward. Max started fifteenth, but halfway through the race he was in fourth place.
Sergio had his best race in my opinion – controlled the pace and had a great restart. Our riders have given the best of themselves.
We thought there was a problem with Max’s car, but after checking everything we let the riders attack at full strength again. They pushed each other forward and Max drove the best lap of the race. In qualifying it wasn’t his fault for what happened, he started 15th, showed patience and overtook rivals – Verstappen bounced back phenomenally.
We have a great car and two great drivers. Today at the briefing, we told them, “You can fight each other, but do it nicely.” They are both competitive and Sergio had his best grand prix.”
