Sergio Pérez won the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix with his fifth career win, although he admitted it wasn’t easy.
Sergio Perez (1st): “The task was more difficult than expected, and all because of the safety car. We did a great job in the first stint of the race, but the safety car tried again to take the win from us in Jeddah (like last year), but not this time.
Last year I was also on my way to victory at this track, but in the end I won it. The team also worked really well and worked really hard all weekend because we had a lot of technical problems, but our guys worked it out. I am very happy for them and now it is time to celebrate the success.
It’s important that we have the fastest car, and that’s just great. Admittedly, we still have to work on the starts. We have slightly modified this procedure and now we have to try to make sure our starts are better in the future.”
Max Verstappen (2e): “Breaking through the pack wasn’t easy. At the start of the race I tried to follow the rivals closely, but in the first sector it was very difficult, the car was sliding too much. But when I went ahead of them one by one, I found a good rhythm, so of course I’m very happy to get on the podium.
I was running second, while I was well ahead of everyone who stayed behind, and at some point we decided that second place was enough for us. In any case, we played well and I am very satisfied. And at the end of the race I decided to do the best lap, and it’s great that I did!
