Charles Leclerc qualified second in Jeddah but will lose ten places to a penalty kick at the start of Sunday’s race. Immediately after qualifying, the Ferrari driver commented on the results of the session.
Charles Leclerc: “Am I satisfied? Yes and no. On the one hand, we have a very difficult weekend in terms of the speed of the car, but on my lap I gave my best and drove almost to the limit, so I’m happy with the lap.
On the other hand, Red Bull is on another planet. We have problems, but we have to keep attacking – that’s what the team is doing.
I lose ten places at the start, so the race will not be easy. I’m starting a bit behind, but I hope to get back to the front rows as soon as possible.
Our race pace looks pretty good but it’s hard to compare to the rest because in the second practice everyone was working on different programs. We’ll see, but we need to look better in the race than in qualifying. It won’t be easy as everyone has a similar race pace.”
