Auction house RM Sotheby’s has auctioned the Ferrari F1-2000, in which Michael Schumacher drove four laps in the 2000 season.
Collectors are encouraged to purchase chassis number 198, which was originally intended to be used as a spare. Michael Schumacher spent his first race behind the wheel of this chassis in Interlagos, Brazil – and won.
Schumacher did not achieve more victories with this chassis, but in Barcelona and Monaco Michael took pole position. Chassis 198’s last race in Formula One was the 2000 Austrian Grand Prix. Michael qualified third, but Ricardo Zonta ran into him at the start. At Maranello, the car was restored and taken to the stages as a spare, but it no longer took to the track as part of the official race weekends.
The auction runs from 3 to 12 April. RM Sotheby’s has not disclosed the initial price of the Ferrari F1-2000, but a potential owner should be prepared to shell out several million euros.
