Juan Manuel Correa, who combines Formula 3 and the European Le Mans Series, will miss the first round of the endurance championship season at Circuit Paul Ricard this weekend due to a foot injury.
The racer posted a video message explaining that he suffered a stress fracture in his left foot. The injury initially occurred during the first round of the Formula 3 season in Bahrain and escalated during testing in Jerez this week.
“I have a broken metatarsal bone in my left foot,” Correa said. “A few weeks ago, during a race in Bahrain, I had a sharp pain in my left leg. I had an exam and decided it was just a tendonitis so I’ve been reducing the load over the past few weeks.
However, on tests in Jerez, the pain returned. Thursday I had an MRI scan and on Friday the results came back showing that I really had a stress fracture.
The injury surprised me. I thought that this year I wouldn’t have to deal with injuries anymore, that all that was a thing of the past. Doctors prescribed rest for a few weeks. We’ll see how the situation develops, but of course I’ll skip the ELMS next week.”
In 2019, during the Formula 2 stage at Spa, Juan Manuel Correa suffered serious leg injuries and was only able to get behind the wheel again in 2021.
