Alex Albon did not finish in Jeddah due to brake problems. The Williams driver made no secret of his disappointment at the retirement, as he expected to earn points, but noted that it was better to deal with a fast but unreliable car than a reliable but slow car.
“This circuit is not much fun to fly if your brakes give out! – quotes the words of Albon publication Racingnews365. – Of course, I am angry with the meeting, because this weekend the car was fast. I’m impressed with how much the team has improved in Jeddah compared to last year.
I’m also disappointed because we don’t often get the chance to earn points, and this weekend we should have earned them, but we didn’t. That’s why I’m disappointed, but overall I’m positive when I see progress. I would be more upset if I knew that the speed of the car can only count on finishing at the end of the pack.
The points are quite achievable, so the races are more exciting. The more at stake, the more offensive the defeat – the team fights. We knew the track would suit the car and we know there are still tracks ahead where we will look good. I hope we can keep the momentum going in the remaining races of the season.
If I was told last year that we would fight for the points in the first races of this season, I would be happy. In a way I feel a pleasant disappointment after my departure!”
