AlphaTauri rider Yuki Tsunoda failed to score any points in the opening races, but after finishing in Jeddah he was optimistic…
Yuki Tsunoda: “We didn’t think we would be so competitive in the race. I expected much worse, but the engineers and mechanics did a great job.
In Jeddah I had to pull out all the stops in the first sector to get a gap, to compensate for the loss of speed on the straights and in a couple of corners that require a lot of downforce.
It’s a shame I ended up losing tenth and losing the position to Magnussen. We were all upset, but I did my best, got the best out of the car and fought for the points. This is positive for the team. I hope we progress as the season progresses and that we can earn points in the next races.
It is important that I have shown my potential. If I act in the same vein, then one day I will have the opportunity to finish the race in the top ten – and it should be used to the maximum.
The team is preparing new items. Let’s see how they work. I wouldn’t expect too much, but I hope the car goes faster. We need to play a few tenths of the circle to consistently fight for points.
