There are two races in Italy on the Formula 1 calendar – in Monza and Imola. The contract for the Italian Grand Prix runs until 2024 and for the Grand Prix of Emilia-Romagna until 2025. President of the Italian motorcycle club ACI Angelo Sticchi Damiani considers it unlikely that both circuits will remain on the calendar after this date.
“We have to keep up with Formula 1 and for that we need constant development,” said Angelo Sticchi Damiani. – Last year we invested 44 million and everything went very well, but part of this money was lost due to the high running costs of the Grand Prix. As a result, we now face a budgetary challenge and cannot afford to try to solve this problem on our own.
We performed a miracle by agreeing to hold two races until 2025. However, you have to be a great optimist to think that after this date everything will remain as it is.
It is necessary to show Stefano Domenicali and Formula 1 the seriousness of our intentions. Requests for the Grand Prix come from all over the world, so it will not be easy for us to negotiate.”
