The official Formula 1 exhibition opened the day before in Madrid and we talked about it. The opening was attended by the head of the championship, Stefano Domenicali, who said that the city council wants to organize one of the stages of the season.
Stefano Domenicali: “In Madrid they are working on a project to organize the race, and in Formula 1 we are happy to have so many applications. The championship is incredibly popular all over the world and we know the passion people watch races in Spain with. I worked with Fernando Alonso and I know him well.
It is nice to see that interest in Formula 1 is growing in Spain, thanks in part to Carlos Sainz. We know about Madrid’s interest in hosting the podium and we have a contract with Barcelona, which is just great.
You can never say never, but it will be very difficult to have two races in Spain. We are happy with the partnership with Barcelona, but Madrid also wants its own race. All this is only in favor of Formula 1.”
