The first two races of the season ended with two victorious doubles by the Red Bull Racing drivers. While rivals note that the Milton Keynes team has a car in its own class, Red Bull Racing chief race engineer Paul Monaghan says the RB19 hasn’t changed much from last year’s car.
Paul Monaghan: We don’t feel like we’ve made a huge step forward. Before the first day of testing and before the first race, the team was very concerned about whether we would be as competitive as we wanted to be. Thanks to the great people in Milton Keynes we have built the best car possible, but we are judged against rivals.
The team must try to stay at the current level, because the rest will try to catch up with us and they have the opportunity to do that. Indeed, we are in a situation where we cannot afford to rest on our laurels.
During qualifying in Jeddah we saw what can happen with the slightest mistake. The situation in the championship can be described in any way, but not in words that the job is done.
