Audi expects to be fast from the first season

Audi will debut in Formula 1 in 2026, when the new technical regulations come into force. Audi Formula Racing CEO Adam Baker believes the rule change will give the team the chance to compete for high positions from season one.

Adam Baker: “In the seven months since we announced our entry, Formula 1 has continued to grow and attract interest from other manufacturers. Given this fact, we made the right decision at the right time.

Compared to other manufacturers who have entered Formula 1 in the last 20 years, we announced our plans quite early. Work on the project began in March 2022 in Neuburg. We are well aware of the scale of the task, but our advantage is that we will be speaking in the first year of the new regulations in Formula 1.

In the past, new manufacturers have come in during a period of stable regulations, putting them at a huge disadvantage compared to teams that have been in the championship for a long time.

In 2026, the planned changes regarding the engine and chassis will take place – the sport is waiting for the most serious changes in recent history. Therefore, if we work well, the debutants will have the opportunity to be at a competitive level.

In January, budgetary restrictions on the refinement of the power plant began to act, which are observed by all manufacturers, including us. It gives us the same opportunities as the rest.”
