Daniel Ricciardo will miss the 2023 season – the Australian will come to separate stages as a reserve driver for Red Bull Racing. Daniel’s compatriot, 1980 world champion Alan Jones, doubts Ricciardo will be able to return to Formula 1 after a season without racing.
Alan Jones: “I don’t think he will get a place at Red Bull unless something happens to their main drivers. I don’t see any other options for Daniel to participate in the Grand Prix.
I doubt he will be back at the start in 2024. There is no obvious reason why Red Bull is not renewing Sergio Perez’s contract and Max Verstappen’s place has already been taken. I also don’t think there will be a job at Ferrari, so I just don’t see any options for Daniel to continue his career.
It is clear that all riders strive for high results, but I don’t think Daniel himself knows the reason why his results went down. As I said, I don’t see any options for him to return to Formula 1.
In my opinion, Ricciardo spent too much time and energy on things that had nothing to do with Formula 1, and the situation got out of hand.
