The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has warned Formula 1 teams to ban mechanics and team members from outside the fences during finish line celebrations. This is stated in one of the paragraphs of the document published on to place FIA before the Australian Grand Prix.
Teams will be penalized if one of the employees decides to come out of the fence at the start-finish line. The ban was signed by race director Nils Wittich.
This decision is motivated by the requirements of the FIA international sports code. He clarifies that “team members are only allowed to enter the pit lane to work on the car and are required to leave as soon as this work is completed”. From now on, any violation by the teams will be reported to the judges.
The Australian Grand Prix will be held from March 31 to April 2 in Melbourne.
