The first two stages of the season ended with two victorious doubles from Red Bull Racing. The speed of the car means Melbourne can count on a third consecutive double win, an unprecedented in the team’s history, but Red Bull Racing fears reliability issues this weekend.
As Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport found out, no one in the team can guarantee that both cars will safely reach the finish line of the race at Albert Park. The reason for this uncertainty lies in the lack of reliability of the RB19 and Milton Keynes has not yet been able to pinpoint the exact reason for this.
The team suspects the weak point could be quality control or components sourced from third-party suppliers. The parts that Red Bull Racing will use in Australia were made and sent to the track a few months ago, and now there is no guarantee that they will not be faulty.
Rivals admit that if bad luck doesn’t stop Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez in Melbourne, they will easily realize the speed advantage. Aston Martin boss Mike Krak described the RB19 as follows: “There is no specific area where their car is particularly superior to all the others. She’s better in every way.”
