This weekend is Logan Sargent’s first appearance at Albert Park, but his Friday schedule was disrupted – electrical problems at the end of the first practice meant he missed the second completely.
Dave Robson, chief race engineer: “Another mixed Friday – there were positive moments as well as an electrical issue with Logan’s car. The mechanics tried their best but were unable to repair his car at the start of the second practice session, costing him time on track and the chance to try the intermediate Pirelli tyres.
For Alex, the day was much easier. He was satisfied with the car’s behavior on both dry and wet surfaces, showed good pace and was able to complete the planned programme.
We’ve been testing a few new products and will decide in the evening whether to leave them on the car until the end of the weekend.”
Alex Albon (18e): “Given the weather conditions, it is now difficult to assess the balance of power. In the first practice session I was really happy with the car, so I’m positive. Compared to last year, the car looks much better, we will be able to fight with rivals.
Logan Sargent (15th in the first session): “Not an easy day. In the morning I immediately felt comfortable, the car had a good pace, so there is reason to be optimistic. If we use the third practice effectively on Saturday, we can have a good qualification.”
