Alfa Romeo tests new wing

In the second practice session of the Australian Grand Prix, Alfa Romeo tested an updated front wing and other updates to the C43 car. The team is satisfied with the work of new products and counts on a productive continuation of the weekend.

Valttery Bottas (12th): “In the second practice we made progress compared to the first, both in terms of feeling of the car and speed. It was difficult because of the traffic – the track is quite narrow so there are not many places where you can pass another car. But they are all on an equal footing.

Both workouts were challenging. In the first session I was not completely happy with the balance of the car, but for the second session we changed the settings and tested the new front wing with positive results.

Overall, I’m optimistic about the rest of the weekend. There is still work to be done and time to play, but we are on the right track.”

Guanyu Zhou (15th): “First impressions are quite positive – I think we are in better shape than you would think based on our lap times. We prepared well and gave the team good feedback about the car.

I tested several new products and I can say they were a step forward. Of course I would like to work more on a dry track to have a better idea. The rain changed our plans a bit, but even in the first session it was difficult to clean up a lap.

My circle on Soft was interrupted by red flags. Traffic has also become an issue, but this is a typical situation for Melbourne. We will try to use the time in the third practice as much as possible to prepare for qualifying.”
