Due to red flags and rain, the Alpine riders were unable to complete the Friday program, now all hope for Saturday training…
Pat Fry, technical director: “Today’s practice was severely limited due to red flags in the first session and rain in the second. We couldn’t complete our program, got less data on the performance of tires with different amounts of fuel, but the situation is the same for everyone. Saturday practice will be key to fine-tuning the machines. It’s important to get the most out of your time on the track.”
Esteban Ocon (6th): “It’s always nice to get back behind the wheel in Melbourne, but it was a tough Friday for everyone. After a few decent laps at Hard we had to go back to the pits due to a problem with the GPS. traffic everyone and soon the session ended under red flags.
In the second practice we managed to complete one set of laps before the rain reached the track, making it impossible to work with slicks, which was very useful for qualifying and the race, which will apparently be held on a dry track .
Peter Gasley (10th): “Perfectly acceptable Friday, I’m happy with what we were able to do. Unfortunately, red flags and rain prevented us from covering the planned distance, a lot needs to be done before the third training session to make the most of today’s experience.
I felt comfortable in the car. We’re in good shape. It looks like tomorrow and Sunday will be dry, we need to make the most of tomorrow’s practice to be well prepared for qualifying.
