Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez finished third and seventh respectively in the second practice session of the Australian Grand Prix. Red Bull Racing drivers complained about tires and track traffic.
Max Verstappen (3rd): “Today the track conditions were not the best – the car had no grip and the asphalt was very slippery. It turned out to be quite difficult to get the tires working, so we couldn’t attack right away.
The training was interrupted several times by red flags, so I never got into the rhythm. It’s hard to say how the car will behave on this track because we haven’t been able to get the most out of the tyres. In the evening we study telemetry to understand what can be done tomorrow. The rest of the weekend should be better so we will focus on preparations.”
Sergio Perez (7e): “During the first practice there were problems with the GPS. It feels like some of them stayed in the second session.
After the first practice we changed the settings, which made me better in the first and second sector, but because of the traffic I couldn’t pass the third normally. I was a little surprised that I couldn’t understand the car in the wet, but on dry it drove well.
There is a lot to do before Saturday, but after today I feel more confident. Tomorrow we will see where we are.”
