Before the start of the Australian Grand Prix, McLaren team principal Andrea Stella spoke about the three stages of finishing an under-competitive car…
Andrea Stella: “We are taking the first step on the podium in Baku. We’re talking about increasing aerodynamic efficiency, a better balance between downforce and drag. But this is only the first step.
Then the first comprehensive update appears, which affects many parts of the machine. It will be more noticeable, probably someone will call it the second version of our car. And then, after the summer holidays, we introduce another big update.
So we will have three main steps: first in Baku, then later – I don’t want to set a single date, but before the summer holidays and the third after that. We hope that each of these steps will allow us to play a few tenths and reach our goal of returning to the top four teams by the end of the season.
