Cloudy. Dry. Air +14C, rail +22C
After an eventful Friday, when GPS glitches, red flags and rain prevented riders from completing long stretches of laps, Saturday morning practice was extremely important. The rain washed away the layer of waste rubber, because on the eve many complained about the poor grip of the drive wheels.
The biggest problem was traffic. It was very difficult to drive a true circle, Russell even had to go outside the boundaries of the track to miss Stroll.
On the 30th minute, Magnussen flew off the track, but kept moving. Red flag for a few minutes in Session 33 to remove a large piece of carbon from the AlphaTauri car in turn nine.
Due to problems with the brakes, which could not be adjusted in any way, Perez flew out several times without any consequences for the car. Then Zhou turned around in the second corner and five minutes before the end of the session it started to rain, which didn’t spoil anything this time – the riders ended the session on slicks.
At the end of the session, Perez’s car stopped at the exit of the pit lane, the mechanics had to roll it back into the pits.
The best time was set by Max Verstappen, having passed the lap in 1:17.565, in one second behind him were twelve drivers at once – the battle in qualifying will be tight.
