Williams earned no points in Australia. Alex Albon was out of contention due to an accident and Logan Sargent also crashed on the second restart and was only classified 16th…
Alex Albon (retreat): “We are studying telemetry and trying to figure out what went wrong. When I lost control of the car I was going slower through Turn 6 than on the previous lap. I think the point is that before that I went a bit wider into the corner, the temperature of the tires increased and they lost grip.
Without the accident we had a good chance to score points this weekend. I am very upset and I am worried about the team.”
Logan Sargent: “The race didn’t quite go the way we wanted. After the first safety car exit, we made the wrong decision by switching to medium tires – the situation worsened with them, the speed returned only after switching to hard.
We tried to take a risk, but it didn’t work. I learned a lot today and hope to use this knowledge in the future.”
