Marco: Mercedes cars are sometimes incredibly fast

After seven Grands Prix, Red Bull Racing is 101 points ahead of Mercedes in the Constructors’ Championship, but Red Bull adviser Helmut Marko believes rivals can fight the leaders if they fix problems with their cars.

Helmut Marko: “During training and racing, Hamilton and Russell’s cars sometimes do incredibly fast laps. This doesn’t always happen, so it’s hard for us to understand where such lap times come from. If you listen carefully to the words of people at Mercedes, it seems they do not know the reason either, but it is clear that this car has potential. And if they can implement it for the entire race, they will be in charge.

It is very difficult to understand why their car is sometimes incredibly fast. At one point they were the fastest at some point, but this didn’t last long. What exactly causes the loss of speed, why can’t they drive like this all the time? Luckily for us, they haven’t found an answer yet.”
