Wedding ceremonies are held at the Imola circuit

The circuit in Imola is preparing for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix in May, but also plans to do things that have a distant relationship to motorsport.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the city of Imola, together with the tourism company IF Imola-Faenza, invites young couples to wedding ceremonies at the track. In principle, the idea is not new and was already implemented at Silverstone several years ago, but apparently it is not yet commonplace on Italian circuits.

There are many motorsport fans of both sexes in Italy, so it’s quite possible to assume that the idea will grab the masses, and there will be plenty of people willing to formalize relations on the Enzo and Dino Ferrari international circuit.

For ceremonies they are given a room named after Ayrton Senna, overlooking the square at the entrance to the track. From October to March, such celebrations can be held on Saturdays and Sundays, and from April to September, ie during the flying season – on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The prices for weddings on the historic route have already been set: 410 euros for local residents and 820 euros for visitors. The contract with the city administration and the company IF is designed for three years, and the authors of the project expect to significantly replenish the budget of the autodrome in this way.

“We succeeded in realizing an idea that motorsport enthusiasts have only dreamed of for years,” said Marco Panieri, mayor of Imola. “Until now, the newlyweds only occasionally took pictures against the background of the track, but now new opportunities are opening up for them …”
