Fernando Alonso’s current contract with Aston Martin expires at the end of 2024. The two-time Formula 1 champion has been given a competitive car for the first time in many years this season and will be in no hurry to decide on his retirement.
The Spanish newspaper Marca reports, based on sources, that Fernando does not intend to start negotiations on a new agreement with Aston Martin until the end of this season. If the driver decides to continue his career, he will offer the team a two-year contract until the end of 2026, after which he will permanently leave Formula 1.
“When I returned to Formula 1 in 2021, I was concerned about my abilities,” the newspaper quoted Fernando Alonso. Now I know I’m in better shape than when I left. I don’t know if I will sign another contract, but if I do I will continue to drive for Aston Martin.”
