Russian Daniel Kvyat became a factory driver for the Lamborghini Squadra Corse team which will compete in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2024, according to Motorsport.
The 28-year-old Russian’s partners will be Romain Grosjean, Mirko Bortolotti and Andrea Caldarelli.
“Daniel’s main role will be to work closely with our engineers and mechanics on the prototype car which will debut next year, and given his extensive experience in other racing series, I have no doubt that he will play a vital role in our entry into the race in 2024, — quotes the words of the head of the Motorsport team.
– Lamborghini is a well-known Italian brand with a long history in the automotive world. I spent my youth in Italy, so I feel extra pride,” said the driver.
Kvyat competed in Formula 1 for Red Bull and Alfa Tauri (formerly Toro Rosso) in 2014-2017 and 2019-2020. Previously, he participated in the NASCAR series. In March, Kvyat, as part of the Prema Racing team, became third at the first stage of the WEC World Championship in the LMP2 category at Sebring (USA).
